University is ideal in terms of preparing your child for leaving home. They get an opportunity to experience being independent.

We'll support them

Our academic and professional services staff work together to form a coherent support network for students. Often students will choose who they feel most comfortable talking to. Here are just some of the options for them.

Settling into uni life

For many students living away from home, managing their money and feeding themselves is a major new experience. Expect a transition period as they settle into accommodation, make new friends, and juggle academic work with a social life.

The good news is that as well as providing strong network of support for students to help them look after themselves and develop strategies for coping with challenges, we also offer lots of advice on how to settle in and make friends. Students can access a wide range of societies, sports clubs, volunteering and self-development opportunities, where they can meet new people and form friendships based on shared interests.
