BSc (Hons) Broadcast Media Technologies

Our students are content creators. They use media technology to make content as diverse as documentaries for TV, music video and experimental cinematography, twitch and YouTube streams, animations, podcasts and even radio drama. They tell stories across platforms and experiment with technologies and techniques. We work in production and in post-production; shooting, editing, preparing motion graphics and learning about production administration. Students work on their own single camera ‘self-shooter’ projects, in small crews and in the studio and on location, making and streaming multi-camera live productions on campus and in the wider City Region. We have streamed national sports competitions live to BBC Digital as part of student assessment, and students have also worked on live broadcast TV projects including the first two series of Channel 5’s Shop Smart Save Money, from the Westfield in Bradford. This year students have been working with Bob Brazill at Monomyth Records to make original music videos for artists including Cat Una and Paradaeis. Showing their desire to produce content right through the covid-19 pandemic, second year students streamed from home for their Online Broadcast work and made individual Lockdown Docs about their experience of the crisis. Final year students made podcasts and short films from home, and of course still delivered their engaging final year projects which you see in this Leeds School of Arts Festival.
