BSc (Hons) Creative Media Technology

Our students are digital designers and creators. They use their own creative ideas, design thinking and media technology skills to deliver professional level content that covers web, interactive, video, illustration, 2D and 3D modelling and animation. They work on their own ideas in response to live briefs from agencies and outside clients. We work across software and employ different approaches and styles depending on the module and brief. Our course is unapologetic in its’ focus on employability. Leeds is a design and creative agency hub. Our graduates are both eager and successful in finding places in the city to work on placement and after graduation. Take a look at our work – or maybe even ask us to a set a brief based on working with you? Our students are up to your challenge.

This year students have produced some of the best work we’ve ever seen on the course with real diversity in final year projects.  Ryan Gledhill has produced a marketing campaign for a music festival featuring a game programmed with Phaser.js as his centrepiece. The game is designed to drive user engagement and publicise the festival on social channels.  Jakub Maziarski (a University Basketball player) created an Augmented Reality playbook for basketball coaches to use in timeouts that help players visualise moves.  Ben Keirl has showcased his skills in web development and design by creating a website for a fictional smart watch.  The website features a content managed backend, custom 3D animations and an online shop.  Ben also produced AR content to promote the watch on Snapchat. James McGahey saw the need for an app to support students experiencing mental health difficulties at university; designing the UX, interactive prototypes, producing a motion graphic to promote the app and filming interviews with student wellbeing support staff at Leeds Beckett.  Tutors and students also want to thank the external agencies Engage Interactive, Dynamic Business and Rejuvenate who offered students placements and helped take their skills to the commercial level you see evidenced in this year’s work.
