MA Documentary Filmmaking

MA Documentary Filmmaking is an eighteen month course where students evolve films based upon real lives and experience.  They are encouraged to explore issues and stories that they care about, and to find ways to communicate that passion to their audiences.  It challenges students on imaginative, aesthetic and technical levels, propelling them to build on their past skills and develop new ones.  The course widens awareness of the documentary industry, with the aim that both graduating films and students are on the trajectory to join it.
The course goes from strength to strength.  For their graduation film, each student on the course is challenged to explore a subject close to their heart and present a story, a portrait or a filmic musing about real life.  The films in this year’s slate offer a diverse range for the viewer to enjoy, contemplate or be outraged about.  Made in the first half of the year, these films are being promoted to festivals and screenings and the students are now working on the next steps in their careers.  We are proud of them, and wish them good fortune.
