BA (Hons) Performing Arts

Lauren Owens

BA (Hons) Performing Arts

Students on the BA (Hons) Performing Arts degree develop confidence in their artistry through highly practical and innovative modules which explore the cutting-edge of current Performing Arts practice. With a focus on interdisciplinary making the programme facilitates students in pursuing their own artistic interests alongside studying a range of techniques, and approaches to, theatre practice, directing, movement, singing, and writing for performance.

Weekly technique classes and creative workshops are underpinned with live project and performance work. Examples include making work for festival contexts, socially engaged arts projects, and the creation of choreographic content for performance. The breadth of modules studied equip students to be creative, versatile and ready for a dynamic industry, with previous graduates taking on employment as performers, artists, producers, teachers, and community practitioners. Within the second year of study, students undertake an industry-based placement and within the final year of study students showcase their performance work in the annual ‘Lift Off Festival’.
