Poppy Brown / Filmmaking
We are excited to announce that Northern Film School Documentary Specialist, Poppy Brown, has been awarded a place on the prestigious and extremely competitive Grierson Doc Lab for 2020/21.
The Grierson Trust was established in 1972 and commemorates the pioneering Scottish documentary maker John Grierson (1898 – 1972), famous for Drifters and Night Mail and the man widely regarded as the father of documentary. As well as being responsible for the annual British Documentary Awards, more fondly known as The Griersons, awarded each autumn, the Trust also invests in an active education programme to provide workshops and specialist mentoring for budding documentary makers.
Poppy's place is so well deserved. She has an exceptional talent for storytelling, whatever the medium. She is independent and a great enthusiast for a good story. Her work ethic, professionalism and creativity are exemplary and she has an ability to inspire others to collaborate which is so essential in filmmaking. Her work is shot through with warmth and her empathy with subjects and contributors is obvious. Above all she possesses that ability to think differently that will hopefully set her on the road to greater things.
We are very proud of her and delighted that her work is already being recognised in the Industry.
