where?

Leeds is the Northern heart of culture and the arts, as well as being an important centre for politics and social sciences. Your campus sits in the very centre of the city, surrounded by over 18 museums, 10 art galleries, 17 theatres, 4 film production companies, Channel 4 national headquarters and 3 recording studios (plus the odd bar, restaurant and club!). We work directly with a variety of local partners including charities, museums and galleries and are involved with many regional events.

what?

Our courses cover Psychology, Criminology, History, Media, Politics, English, Creative Writing, and Speech and Language Therapy,. All are informed by our internationally recognised research, giving you outstanding access to learn from, and discuss with, leaders in their field.

how?

Our research and teaching explore a diversity of topics, from postcolonial literature to peace, conflict & human rights, environmental history to genders & sexuality, and online racism in football to crime, justice & society. We're also very hands-on: from regular conferences, seminars and events to collaborations with institutes and cultural organisations.

our colleagues

Change doesn't just come from one person. It comes from listening to others, exploring different perspectives, and working on answers together. Our respected academic community works across disciplines to understand crucial issues, and collaborates with policymakers, businesses and charities to develop inclusive solutions.

Our academics have spent their careers exploring living, evolving subjects. Join us here, and you'll help shape the discoveries that are yet to come.

our students and alumni

This is not a conveyor belt. Our students use what they’ve learned to bring new ideas to established industries, and even carve out new ones. Every year they proved that a degree from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences can take you anywhere. Where do you want to go?
