About Laurence D Morris

Laurence Morris is an Academic Librarian at Leeds Beckett University, supporting students, staff and researchers in the School of Events, Tourism and Hospitality, and also Computing, Creative Technologies and Languages.

Laurence is a Chartered Librarian and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Higher Education Academy. Before joining Leeds Beckett in 2013, he worked in information provision for the Ministry of Defence, completing various US-based library training programmes. He has also worked in bilingual and multi-campus universities, and on the implementation of Leeds Beckett’s online reading list system.

Laurence's primary role at Leeds Beckett is to assist students and researchers in accessing and applying information in their studies. He also coordinates Library-subject liaison, manages resource acquisition budgets and provides training in general academic skills.

Research Interests

Laurence’s primary research interest dates from his time working with online reading list systems: connecting individuals with relevant information more effectively. His more recent work in academic skills development has led him to refocus on the human aspects of this challenge.
