About Philippa Carr

Philippa is a Lecturer on Social Psychology and Qualitative Research Methods modules in the School of Social Sciences.

She is currently researching the use of arguments in the media about economic inequality, extreme wealth and taxation. In addition to this, Philippa is examining how international students learning Japanese use talk about national identity and culture.

Research Interests

Philippa's research is currently focused on how the super-rich are presented in television broadcasts. This explores how public arguments for extreme wealth are used to legitimise inequality and practices such as inheritance that impede social mobility.
