Students honour Leeds Beckett staff in Golden Robes Awards

Now in their fifth year, the Golden Robes Awards, led by Leeds Beckett Students’ Union, are open for nominations from students who want to recognise a staff member or group of staff who have made a big difference to their student life and academic practice.

Students honour Leeds Beckett staff in Golden Robes Awards

This year there are nine categories in the Golden Robes Awards list. All of these categories aim to celebrate the amazing work that goes on in the University. Filling in a nomination takes no time at all and students can submit any number of different nominations. So whether it’s one staff member in one category or multiple staff members per single category, that’s OK. Students can nominate their choices here.

The categories are as follows:

Personal Tutor

Is your personal tutor the best? The personal tutor award will go to the member of staff who has been an outstanding figure of support for students, guiding and giving advice through the journey of a degree.

Fantastic Feedback

This category is for those staff who go the extra mile with feedback, whether it's written, audio or digital feedback it's always the best. This is not only the kind of feedback that clarifies a grade, it also enables personal development.

This award will be presented to the staff member who has made a supreme effort to encourage students and keep them going through challenging times in life or study.

Hidden Hero

A special category specifically for those members of staff, academic or non-academic, whose work provides essential support, adds value, or even just brightens the day of Leeds Beckett students but who might not always get the recognition they deserve.

Innovative Tutor

This award is for those teaching staff who bring new ideas to the teaching environment, they might experiment with how they deliver lecture/seminars and use new teaching techniques. They may also use creative and captivating technology in class making sure that learning is inspirational and memorable.

Undergraduate Supervisor & Postgraduate Supervisor

The undergraduate and postgraduate supervisor of the year awards celebrate the outstanding efforts of academic staff who guide students through final year dissertations and postgraduate research.

This award will go to the module that has not only been the most enjoyable to study but also the most inspirational, whether it be through the module staff and the way they teach or through exciting extras such as trips or guest lectures.

Course Team

Do you think that every aspect of your course is amazing? This award is for the course that delivers a fantastic and inspiring experience for students on that course whether it be through teaching, support, motivation or a combination of those and more.

Nominations opened on 28 November 2016 and they will close on Thursday 23 March. Shortlisting will be during the week commencing Monday 27 March and an announcement will be made on Thursday 6 April. The Golden Robes Award Ceremony will be hosted on Thursday 27 April.
