Estates update - Jan 2019
31 January 2019
It is one year since we broke ground on the £80m Leeds School of Arts building. We visited the site for a first look inside now that the underground basement structure is complete. Watch the video here.
CarnegieSchool of Sport building
The steelwork is now complete on the Carnegie School of Sport’s £45m Teaching and Research building at Headingley – all 950 tonnes of it! The rooftop running track is easily identifiable on site and promises to be a stand-out feature of the new building. Check out the great aerial footage here.
Headingley and City campus cafés
Many of you will now have seen the new and improved café areas at both Headingley and City campuses, which have benefited from a £250k investment. The refurb included improving the seating areas in both cafés so they are more flexible and can be used as social learning and workspace for students and colleagues. Both cafés also now have improved food waste stations and a microwave station. Further work is planned for early February at the servery in Headingley Tiki.
Macaulay reception at Headingley Campus has also had a makeover, with a new contact point created for students in the school of Events, Tourism and Hospitality Management. This will make it easier for students and staff to access the school’s administrators, as well as it being a more welcoming space for visitors.
Leeds Business School
Finally, a Business Engagement Suite has been created for Leeds Business School to provide a space for collaborating with partners and give students a dedicated space to focus on enhancing their links with the professions.
