Keeping our campus safe
15 March 2019
Following recent media coverage about suspected explosive devices sent to transport hubs in London and to Glasgow University, we want to reassure students that there is no intelligence to suggest that other universities will be targeted.
Like other large organisations in the region, current advice from the police and government agencies asks that we remain alert to the risk of suspicious mail. More information about what you should do if you discover a suspicious delivered item is available on the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure website.
Campus safety is everyone’s responsibility and it is important that students remain observant. If you have any suspicions or cause for concern, you should contact the university’s security services team on 0113 812 3165, available 24 hours a day.
The majority of university buildings, staff offices and specialist teaching areas have access control. It is therefore important that students carry their student card with them at all times.
