Bike Hub celebrates 10 years of getting people cycling
20 May 2019
The Bike Hub, a partnership between Leeds Beckett and the University of Leeds, celebrated its 10th birthday on May Day.
The Bike Hub lends more than 500 bikes a year to staff and students from the universities, helps them maintain their own bikes and gives advice on route planning and training.
Over the past 10 years there has been a steady rise in the rentals and the number of visitors. We now have one of the few facilities of its kind that helps to get people cycling and helps improve our sustainability.
Staff were joined at the celebration by former employees, past and current volunteers, members of sustainability services from both universities, and representatives from local government who have supported the Bike Hub over the last decade.
Romain Cames and Dave Prince, who run the Bike Hub day-to-day, talked about the great work that has been achieved, and asked guests to think about how we can make the next ten years even more successful.
You can get your bike serviced at the Bike Hub Tuesday – Thursday, 12:00 – 16:00. Find out more: https://sustainability.leeds.ac.uk/sustainable-transport/bike-hub/
