Join Code First: Girls for a career in technology
17 September 2018
We’re partnering with Code First: Girls to offer female and non-binary students the chance to gain high-quality coding skills and experience.
We’ll be running a free eight week course at our Headingley Campus every Monday evening from 15 October to 3 December that will give students an introduction to front end web development.
It’s part of a nationwide scheme ran by Code First: Girls that is aiming to get more female graduates employed in the technology industry.
Participants will receive expert coaching and instruction from students and academics from the School of Computing, Creative and Technology Industry, alongside input from women currently working in the industry.
Each two-hour session will break down the details behind building a webpage, equipping attendees with a wide set of coding skills by the end of the programme.
This is an opportunity to receive free expert tuition, learn new skills and to get to know prospective employers from the tech world.
It is open to any female or non-binary student currently studying at the university, with 30 spaces available.
To apply, visit this page and complete a short form outlining why you want to receive the training by 26 September.
