Things to do in Leeds
9 September 2019
Hi, I’m Sherry your Students’ Union Education Officer. I’m here to give you a few tips on the different things you can do when you move to Leeds.
The Student Map of Leeds is a great place to start if you’re looking for things to do and places to go in Leeds. The map is decided by students and includes pubs, restaurants, parks and more.
The first thing you should know about being out and about in Leeds is to remember your student card. Almost everywhere does a student discount and in some places, you can save 20% on your purchases.
In your first week you’re probably looking to make friends and have fun, so why not come to our Freshers events? The Students’ Union team have been working all summer to make this a week to remember. The Freshers Fair is a great place to meet societies and sports teams, as well as bag yourself a few freebies.
There are some especially unique events that happen in Leeds, such as Leeds Light Night, which returns to light up the city on October 10 and 11. Light Night is an opportunity to make plans with your new friends, and I found it was a great excuse to enjoy the amazing art our city has to offer.
If you like being outdoors with friends, then Bonfire night is a must! There are tons of bonfires that take place around Leeds but whichever one you choose you are bound to have an amazing night.
There’s always something to do in Leeds and so many amazing places to Visit. When I moved here, I made a list of places to visit. If you want the list, you can message me on Facebook. Feel free to ask me any questions about university life and Leeds in general.
