LBU student to represent Nigeria in Rugby Sevens competition
25 October 2019 - Oliver Goode
First year Sports Business Management student Alex Osifo will represent Nigeria in the Athlete Factory International Rugby Sevens this weekend.
The competition, taking place in Chester, will see Alex’s team compete against rival nations including USA, South Africa and England. It will be the second time Alex has represented his nation, having previously played for Nigeria’s Exiles.
Alex has impressed since joining Leeds Beckett University in September, having scored five tries in six appearances for the university’s rugby team.
Alex said: “I can’t wait to test myself against world class opponents in the sevens. The sevens format suits my game style as a winger, and I am excited about getting out there and playing.”
LBU’s rugby development coach Harrison Marshall said: “It’s great to have a player like Alex in the squad and to see him work hard and progress through our ranks.
“As a first year student he has already made a good impression and for him to be given an opportunity like this is something both he and Leeds Beckett University can be very proud of.”
