Borrow media equipment for free

Leeds Beckett offers staff and students the ability to borrow high-end media equipment for free from the Media Equipment Loans service.
The catalogue of equipment includes the latest GoPro cameras, HD video equipment, cables and connectors, microphones and much more. Now, with the new online booking system, we have made it even easier to reserve equipment.
The Media Equipment Loans service is provided by IT Services and loans out hundreds of pieces of equipment every week. Staff and students borrow equipment for presentations, assignments or to document events. This service is a substantial benefit to our students as it saves them from having to purchase expensive equipment while they are completing their degrees.
In September, IT Services rolled out its new online booking system for equipment. This portal works like an online shopping site and allows staff and students to browse equipment and reserve it for a specific date. This is particularly relevant to lecturers who assign projects that need media equipment and fear students being unable to complete the assignment due to financial restrictions.
Students can reserve the camera or digital recorder they will require weeks or even months in advance to ensure they have it when they need it. The staff at the Media Equipment desk can also offer advice and tips on how to use the equipment.
Staff are encouraged to use the service as well. Cameras can be booked out to record events or presentations, and laptops and projectors can be loaned to support meetings. If staff would like to know more about the Media Equipment Loans, they can speak to staff at the IT Service Desk located on the ground floor of both libraries.
