LBU rugby seek redemption against Hartpury

-

Leeds Beckett University’s BUCS Super Rugby team will travel to Hartpury for their next fixture, as they chase a maiden league championship.

The team’s upcoming game against reigning BUCS Champions Hartpury could be crucial to LBU’s title hopes.

LBU are just five points behind current leaders Durham, who narrowly defeated Leeds Beckett 19-18 last time out to extend their lead at the top.

The breakdown

Leeds Beckett will seek redemption Hartpury inflicted a 24-11 loss on LBU two weeks ago.

Three time BUCS Super Rugby champions Hartpury will look to rise once more at the business end of the season, as they currently sixth in the table, ten points behind fourth placed Cardiff Metropolitan.

Back-to-back defeats for LBU has turned the pressure up on the team to finish their final four fixtures strong and will look to return to winning ways imminently against Hartpury.

Meanwhile, Durham will travel to Bath this week and will look to widen the gap on their rivals after Durham edged Bath 25-18 at the beginning of the season.

Possible scenarios

A bonus point victory for LBU and a loss of more than seven points for Durham is the only way Leeds Beckett could reclaim their place at the top of the BUCS Super Rugby league table this week.

Any bonus point loss or better for Durham will see them hold on to their lead, who currently have a five point advantage over LBU.

If LBU lose, and fail to register a bonus point, Durham could extend their lead to ten points over Leeds Beckett with a bonus point win at Bath.
