10 reasons to attend an Applicant Day

Experience your course
What’s great about Applicant Days is that you have already selected the course(s) that you wish to study. You can therefore spend the day really getting to know the course. You can chat to the people who will be teaching you, ask current students what they enjoy the most, and explore the facilities you could be using every day. Many courses also run activity sessions, to give you a taster of what students get up to on a daily basis.
If you can’t wait until the Applicant Day to ask a student what their course is really like, why not use the ‘Chat to a student’ function on our website? Click the link below to get started.
I knew it was for me
It was the in-depth information that I was given about my course (plus the really fun interactive mini-lecture session) on the Applicant Day that showed me how happy I would be here at Leeds Beckett

View our amazing facilities
We’re a university which takes pride in the quality of our teaching facilities. From top-notch laboratories, to 24/7 music studios and even anti-gravity equipment, we think we’ve got something that would impress anybody.
We also have two new exciting developments happening – our Carnegie Teaching and Research building (which will have a running track around its roof!) and our Creative Arts building which will include a 220 seat Dolby Atmos cinema, a TV studio, three large film studios as well as much more.

Quality equipment and facilities
I think what I like the most about this course is the quality of the equipment and facilities that we’re offered. Software is updated really regularly, which is great. Some facilities are also open through the night! I wasn’t sure if I’d ever need to use them in the early hours, but I’ve actually found this really useful in my second year

Meet your future friends
By coming along to an Applicant Day, you’ll get to meet lots of people who have also applied to study at Leeds Beckett and who may be your future classmates. We’ve heard lots of stories of people who meet at these events and end up becoming best friends later on in their university journey.

Explore campus
Join our Student Ambassadors for a full tour of the campus which your course is taught at. You may have already attended a campus tour at an Open Day, but this is your chance to really take it all in. You’ll get to see some of our students’ favourite places, like the Students’ Union, the library, and of course the delicious food outlets!

Decide where you'd like to live
While you're at your Applicant Day you can hop on a coach to one of our halls of residence and our Accommodation Team will show you where you could be living in a few months' time.
With more than 4,250 rooms available in our halls of residence, you really are spoilt for choice. All our accommodation is located within easy travelling distance of our campuses with facilities such as en-suite bedrooms, free Wi-Fi, or a TV in the lounge area.
Watch our student vlogs to get an idea of student life in halls and what to think about when making your choice.

Chat to current students
During the day we will have our trusty Student Ambassadors on hand to help direct you around our campuses and answer any burning question you might have – don’t be shy! You could ask them anything – from how much time they spend studying, to how they socialise after lectures, and everything in-between.
You can ask anything
The current students on your course and the lecturers are very helpful. They can give you a really good insight to what the course is like and whether it’s right for you. You can ask any questions – there is honestly no such thing as a silly question!

Check out our sports facilities
Did you know that we have recently refurbished our gyms at both campuses? On your Applicant Day, you can take a tour and check out the facilities which have been used by the likes of gold winning Olympic athletes the Brownlee brothers and Jessica Ennis-Hill.

Chat to our student services teams
Throughout the day members of our support service teams will be on hand. Accommodation, Admissions, Student Money Advice, Disability Services and Employability will be here to answer any of your questions.

Explore Leeds
Leeds, Leeds, Leeds. Where do we begin? We think our city is pretty special, although we may be a little biased!
Whether you’re a foodie, a shopaholic, a keen sportsperson or something else entirely, Leeds has something for you. Why not use your Applicant Day as an excuse to experience everything the city has to offer?
If you don’t know where to begin, we have the ultimate guide to Leeds and plenty of student blogs all about our city to help you decide where to go.

Show your family and friends around
Another great thing about an Applicant Day is that you can bring along a family member, or a friend, and together you can explore everything that the university and the city has to offer.
We know that parents can find the adjustment quite difficult sometimes, so we’re sure that getting a chance to look around together may ease their worries somewhat.
