Report a Data Breach

If you become aware of a data breach it is essential that you report it immediately so that we can assess the situation and take prompt action to limit or prevent any potential harm or damage.

Some breaches must be reported to the Information Commissioner’s Office and there are very strict timescales (72 hours from becoming aware of a breach) for this. Failure to report promptly can result in very substantial fines being issued to an organisation.

In the first instance, you should report a breach to your line manager, your School or service data protection contact and Governance & Legal Services. You can use the form provided to notify us.
