Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP)


Designed as an introduction to academic practice for staff in academic and learning support roles early in their career

If your current role includes regular teaching, supporting and guiding students, designing and marking assignments and contributing to course content, this course is the ideal path to continuing professional development.Successful completion of elements of the course will lead to professional recognition as Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Depending on your role and experience it may be possible to complete elements of the course to gain Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA).

If you have fewer than two years' experience of teaching in Higher Education and do not yet have a teaching qualification and/or FHEA, you are required to successfully complete this course within the first two years of your appointment.

Our PGCAP starts in September of each academic year and can be completed in one year. If you are interested in or required to complete the PGCAP please contact us at the earliest opportunity to discuss.
