Festival Republic
Latitude and Leeds Festivals
2016 was the 10th year of the unique festival experiences for Leeds Beckett students.
Working with Festival Republic, which runs Latitude Festival (in Suffolk) and Leeds Festival, we offered 250 students the chance to gain experience in fields relevant to their programmes of study, including PR, film, licensing, artist liaison, sound and lighting.
Students volunteered in 28 different roles at the festivals; six of the student volunteers with very specialist skills, including health & safety and licensing, are on site for five weeks, and students fully manage stages at both festivals – the Lake Stage at Latitude and the BBC Introducing Stage at Leeds.
A number of Leeds Beckett students have gone on to secure full time roles with Festival Republic, after being successful volunteers through the partnership.

Future Sound
Slam Dunk
The award-winning pop-punk, rock, hardcore and metalcore festival now runs annually in Leeds.
The bulk of festival activities happen in Millennium Square, O2 Academy, Leeds Beckett University, as well as the surrounding areas. The festival boasts over 50 national and international artists across seven stages – both indoor and out.
Students partake in over 30 unique volunteering roles. These have included Media, Backstage/ Artist Liaison and Stage Crew.
Live at Leeds
Live at Leeds is a metropolitan music festival held annually across a variety of venues in Leeds on the first bank holiday weekend of May. 2016 saw Live at Leeds celebrate their ten-year anniversary. Their aim is simple and has always been to showcase the best new emerging artists alongside more established acts from around the world.
Live at Leeds offers over 80 of our student’s opportunities in Project Management, Events Management, Sound Engineering, Artist Liaison and Stage Crew.
