Management Matters

Management Matters is a series of short breakfast sessions on a range of management topics and challenges. 

Designed in response to feedback, these sessions are an accessible way of gaining insight into key skills and discussing shared experiences.

Coaching

One to One coaching support based upon asking questions and challenging perceptions, allowing colleagues space to reflect and consider different ways of moving forward to achieve a specified goal. 
Mentoring
Mentoring Arrow Right
Peer support scheme to help managers develop their leadership capabilities through structured conversations with a more experienced colleague. 

Leadership Stories

We run biannual Masterclasses tailored to different management groups and leadership alumni. 

The masterclasses provide networking opportunities to share new ideas, challenge thinking and learn from each other's experiences.

Leadership Programmes

As leaders, it is essential to remain open to new ways of thinking, explore new experiences and acquire new skills.

Our Leadership Programmes provide a safe and challenging environment in which to do this. Learn alongside your peers with our expert speakers and facilitators. Build new relationships across the university and benefit from sessions that are tailored to address the specific challenges you face.

Leading Change

Supporting our colleagues through major change is an important aspect of our work. We recognise that whilst change may present exciting opportunities it can also bring great challenges and stress.

Working closely with the People Partners, the typical forms of support we can offer include:-

  • Leadership Team Support through the change process
  • Surveys to gather colleagues concerns and aspirations
  • Facilitated discussions around key themes
  • Advising people how to access appropriate development opportunities
  • Provision of tailored Change Workshops
  • 1:1 career conversations for colleagues
  • Coaching and Mentoring for leaders and managers

People Development Online

Essential Training

People Development Online is our university’s online training system, which offers a variety of modules to assist you in your role. All new starters will be automatically set up on the training system and enrolled onto the following essential modules -

  • Data Protection
  • Equality and Diversity
  • H&S Essentials
  • Information Security Awareness
  • Prevent Duty Awareness

Completion of these essential modules, plus any others that have been deemed essential based on job role/individual needs assessment, should be encouraged and regular updates will be sent via module owners and Deans/Directors. More information on essential training can be found in our Training Matrix.

Colleagues can also access the systems Training Library within their account to view a range of other available modules. For any queries, please contact POD@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Management Matters Online

We're focussing more on our face to face sessions this year as part of our Management Matters series. We do, however, still have several online modules available to support you with processes you may be involved with,

  • Managing Stress
  • Finance
  • PDR Reviewer
  • Disciplinary
  • Grievance
  • Recruitment and Selection Refresher (every 3 years)

All the modules can be accessed at any time via the systems training library and completed at your own pace.


Performance and Development Review (PDR)

An effective PDR is a way of ensuring that colleagues' performance is linked to our University’s strategic objections, as well as giving them a clear purpose, with related goals for the year ahead. For advice and guidance on how to make the most out of PDR conversations, visit our PDR webpage.
