Laura Wellington

Design (2004-2008)

Laura is a designer and Entrepreneur who in 2011, co-founded an innovative and collaborative work space in the centre of Leeds. Duke Studios provides a range of services and facilities for growing creative businesses. Duke Studios now house 65 businesses that collectively turn over 4.7 million in the local economy, as well as looking after over 65 small businesses, Laura herself is a product and commercial interior designer, her flagship product Hula sells in Europe and Internationally through Habitat. Hula was recently included as one of Habitats most iconic designs in the last 50 years and featured in their 50 years of Habitat coffee table book.

Laura is a place maker who is passionate about the past, present and future of the City and is keen to push forward Leeds to become more of a destination European City. Laura sits on various City steering groups. In 2016 Laura produced BIG DISCO, one of the main Yorkshire Festival commissions which saw the Worlds Biggest Disco Ball arriving in Leeds and got 25,000 people dancing simultaneously across the region, they put on one incredible party and Leeds on the map internationally.
