CUDEM (The Centre for Urban Development and Environmental Management) is a Leeds Beckett University research centre which provides a focus for the research of academics interested in planning, housing and human geography.
It offers an interdisciplinary environment for staff to engage in academic inquiry and policy-related research. CUDEM members undertake academic and policy-related research in the areas of spatial planning, urban governance and regeneration, green infrastructure, sustainability, and culture and heritage-based regeneration.
Our Research Projects
Projects undertaken for the European Commission, UK government, and regional authorities have provided agenda-setting research with significant contribution to the academy, policy and practice, while enriching our planning portfolio. CUDEM's research has developed a strong profile with publications and projects contributing to regional and national policy agendas. Similarly, our research work underpins our professional postgraduate provision and has made a significant contribution to the development of a more competitive local and regional economy. CUDEM's members engage in a range of scholarly activities, funded research and consultancy work.
