‘Women, Visibility and Playful Acts’

‘Women, Visibility and Playful Acts’

Women Visibility Playful Acts.

Dr Liz Stirling, Dr Casey Orr, Jo Hassall, Laura Robinson, Leeds Beckett University

This talk/performance followed the public celebration of International Women’s Day as part of the Festival of The Body organised by F= and based at Central library Artspace from 29 February to 31 March 2016. Leeds Beckett Feminist research group F= offer a space for individual and collective voices to speak out on feminism and its relevance today.

F= explored gender issues through playful, creative approaches to producing and participating in celebratory, absurd and irreverent acts. Embracing the power of humour and spectacle to provoke and invite a response, F= staged events that can act as transformative moments for those taking part across generations and histories. This talk may include some of the above.

This event was part of the 'Leeds Cultural Conversations' series, presented by Leeds Beckett University and Leeds City Council. 'Leeds Cultural Conversations' are a series of monthly talks programmes by the Centre for Culture & the Arts at Leeds Beckett University. For more information on the series please visit
