Centre for Dementia Research

Dementia Awareness

Overview

Dementia is a national and international health priority. The number of people living with dementia is set to increase as the population ages. Leeds Beckett’s Centre for Dementia Research facilitates a cross-disciplinary research community. It supports the conduct of applied dementia research leading to improvements in the lives of people living with dementia, and those providing care and support to them. The Centre has membership from across the University and a growing portfolio of internationally recognised dementia research across three themes.

The Centre leads on the University’s commitment to become a dementia friendly organisation. It also supports annual activities such as Dementia Awareness Week.

In addition to the applied research activities, its research portfolio also includes biomedical sciences research.
