In collaboration with partner schools, colleges and sixth form providers, the Access & Widening Participation team delivers a range of targeted projects for young people in post-16 further education.

These projects help students who are in the final stages of applying to university overcome any barriers to higher education that they may be facing. As such, the team’s activities reflect the narrowing focus of young people at this stage of their academic careers.

Activities for post-16 students include information, advice and guidance on the UCAS process, personal statements, student life and student finances, and the flagship Tomorrow’s Professionals four-day residential, which gives prospective undergraduates an authentic student experience through subject-specific sessions, staying in our halls of residence and a programme of social activities.

Our programme of Post-16 activities enables young people who are disadvantaged due to various economic and social factors gain the skills and knowledge to progress to and excel at university.
