Everything you need to know

Prerequisites

The club welcome complete beginners to try the sport but it is important all prospective rowers are able to confidently swim.

Training schedule

As a club we usually train four times a week, with two land (gym) sessions at Headingley Campus and two water sessions. Our land sessions consist of weights, circuit training and rowing ergos (rowing machines). Our water sessions take place early mornings (normally Wednesday and Sunday, however subject to change throughout the year).

Silver club mark

The rowing team has been awarded the Silver LBU Club Mark for 2023/24

We have been supporting students to reach their potential through the scheme since 2002. Famous alumni that have benefitted from the scheme include Lucy Bronze, Alistair Brownlee, Alex Yee, Emily Scarratt, Vicky Fleetwood, Laura Weightman and Tom Bosworth.

Leeds Beckett awards a number of sports scholarships to high performing athletes each year who are committed to upholding the values of the university and willing to represent Leeds Beckett in BUCS events. Scholarships are also awarded to those who demonstrate the ability to progress and achieve high levels of success in their chosen sports.

You can get in touch with us by email or by messaging any of our social media pages, where you will find up to date information about our club.

Our 'Clean Sport' commitment

All sporting participants have the right to compete in drug-free sport (Clean Sport). Leeds Beckett University adopts the UK Anti-Doping and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) position that cheating, including doping, is fundamentally contrary to the spirit of sport, undermining the otherwise positive impact it can have on society.
