Leeds Varsity Cross Country

Leeds Beckett Men’s Cross Country Team made a bit of history in the first Varsity fixture of the season, winning their first ever Varsity Cross Country point!

The event which was held on Saturday 14th January at West Park consisted of a 10km men's race, and a 6km women's race. The first 6 women and first 12 men to finish from each University counted towards the team event scores. Despite a spirited performance, the Women’s team were unable to match their male counterpart’s performance which means the overall 2017 Varsity score stands at 1-1. A full results lists can be downloaded from the link below.

Both races, which are open to anyone to join, were won by Leeds Beckett Alumni Georgia Taylor-Brown and Dan Garbutt. Unfortunately their results didn’t contribute to the overall Beckett score but it was great to see past student returning to take part in this fantastic event.

All entries fees from the event went to a worthy cause - Hope Pastures Donkey Sanctuary who brought down some VIP’s (Very Important Ponies) on the day to support the runners!
