About Alexandra Witte

Alex joined ICRETH in 2014 as current doctoral research student and Graduate Teaching Assistant in Tourism Management. She has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Studies at the Freie Universität in Berlin, as well as an MSc in International Hospitality and Tourism Management at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. After working in various positions and various locations within the hotel industry in Germany and the UK, she embarked on her PhD research titled “Walking China’s Tea Horse Road: Touristic Practices and Experiences”. While engaging in her PhD journey, she is teaching on undergraduate and postgraduate modules on tourism and development, tourist encounters, sustainable tourism and research methods, as well as supervising a range of undergraduate dissertations. She is also currently engaged in a project intending to create a touristic walking route in Xishuangbanna in Southwest China, in collaboration with the Yunnan University of Finance and Economics.
