About Dr Alison Wilde
Alison works in the School of Education and Childhood and has taught and researched at the Universities of Leeds and York, UCD, Bangor, and Bradford College. She is an active researcher, in the RICHES University Research Centre, and an Inclusivity Champion for the School.
Alison has taught on a variety of subjects including sociology, social policy, education and media studies. She is co-convenor and co-founder of the BSA’s Disability Study Group, is a co-founder of MeCCSA’s Disability Studies Network and is on the editorial boards of Disability and Society, Review of Disability Studies and the Journal of Inclusive Practice in Further and Higher Education.
Alison’s current research interests include educational inclusion, cultural representation, disability studies and critical disability studies, media, gender, sociology of health and illness, and disability and parenting. She published a book entitled '‘Film, Comedy and Disability’ in 2018, and is currently working on several projects including publications from a recent study of poverty and education in Wales.

Alison’s current research interests include educational inclusion, cultural representation, disability studies and critical disability studies, media, and gender. She has also conducted research on the topics of educational inclusion, poverty and schooling, parenting and disability, media and young people, fashion and disability, and the use of anti-oppressive methods, and is currently working on ableism in Higher Education.
