About Lisa McKnight
Lisa, who has an MA (Distinction) in Scriptwriting for Television, joined the Northern Film School in 2001 and was a course leader for six years. In her current role, she draws upon the organisational skills honed whist working as a Producer in a demanding range of contexts and budgets, including dramas, documentaries and animation.
Specialising in creative producing, Lisa teachers her students to not only develop the organisational skills necessary for producing but to understand the art of storytelling. She uses her leadership skills and experience of working in independent films to mentor students in challenging production environments.
For the last few years, Lisa has been writing a gritty, supernatural novel, Feral, which has been optioned by the production company Warp. She has since worked with producers Caroline Cooper Charles and BAFTA winner Bekki Wray Rogers on developing Feral into a TV series. The adaptation process from a writer’s perspective will be the subject of her practice-based PhD begun in 2015.
