About Lyn Farrell
Lyn Farrell is an Online Learning Tutor, working on the design and delivery of distance learning and teaching academic skills. Her research interests include creative writing in education, academic skills and digital literacy development and IT in Education.
Lyn was an Academic Skills Tutor with specialism in IT, working with Skills for Learning at Leeds Beckett for over 12 years. During this time she taught a range of IT workshops and also wrote a research paper 'Challenging assumptions about IT skills in HE students.'
Since moving to the Carnegie School of Education, she teaches academic skills to distance learning students and works with academic colleagues to build and develop online modules and content. She has also helped develop pre-sessional resources for students to use before starting their course.
She is now broadening her teaching and research, focusing on drama and creative writing in education.
Lyn is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Lyn is currently researching drama and creative writing in education, specifically looking at creative writing interventions within the school environment. She is also continuing research in developing academic skills in distance learning students.
