About Peter Mellor
Peter Mellor is the Course Director for the Secondary PGCE ITE course in the Carnegie School of Education. He has worked at Leeds Beckett University for more than 10 years.
Previously, Peter worked as a PE teacher and Head of Department in Bradford. Noted for his work with trainee PE teachers by Ofsted in a training school, he was asked to contribute to the university's undergraduate and postgraduate PE teacher training courses. Peter eventually took a two year secondment from Dixons City Academy to develop his work at the university and to undertake a masters in education and professional development. This led to him accepting a full time post in Initial Teacher Education and becoming Course Leader for the undergraduate secondary PE with QTS and Partnership Manager for secondary provision. He is currently working on his Ed Doc specialising in the Role of Mentoring in Teacher Education. He has also most recently accepted the post of Primary Partnership Manager to add to his portfolio.

Research Interests
Current research includes investigating teachers' and trainees' perceptions of the mentor process for developing teacher trainees in becoming professionals through evidencing standards. The objectives are designed to assist future mentors in our partnership schools to develop their own practice in helping trainees to become more confident and knowledgeable and fit for purpose in the teaching profession.
