Peter Mellor is the Course Director for the Secondary PGCE ITE course in the Carnegie School of Education. He has worked at Leeds Beckett University for more than 14 years. His research profile includes teaching and mentoring trainee teachers.
Previously, Peter was a Senior Leader and a teacher in several Bradford schools. Noted for his work with trainee PE teachers by Ofsted in a training school, he was asked to contribute to the university's undergraduate and postgraduate PE teacher training courses. Peter eventually took secondment from Dixons City Academy to develop his work at the university and to undertake a Masters in education and professional development. A full time post in Initial Teacher Education at the University followed. He has led the School in a number of roles including Head of ITT, Partnership Manager and Course Leader for the Secondary PGCE with QTS programme. His research specialism is The Role of Mentoring in Teacher Education and has chapters published in key Initial Teacher Training text books.
