Shabnam Cadwallender

Shabnam is a lecturer in Primary Education (Inclusion) for Carnegie School of Education. She has been a champion of historically marginalised groups in primary education for over 25 years as a teacher, SENDCo, head teacher and governor.

Shabnam is Autistic and has an ADHD profile. She has taught in primary schools across the North East and the North West, including the independent and special school sectors. An early career researcher, she is currently researching intersectional identity politics, particularly in the South Asian diaspora.

Shabnam is a coach for the Centre for Race, Education and Decoloniality. She is also active outside the university as a founder member of BAMEEd NW, education lead for Anti Racist Cumbria.
