requesting official letters

You may need to prove your status as a student or provide proof of your academic record for a variety of reasons. This may include when applying for a job, bank account or council tax exemption, to name a few.

On this page you will find out what documents are available and how to request them.

What official documents can I request?

Bank Letters for International students

If you are an international student, you can order a bank letter to prove you are studying at our university, to allow you to open a student bank account in the UK.

If you are a UK or EU student, you can request a Confirmation of Enrolment letter as proof of your student status for a student account.

Confirmation of Enrolment Letters

These letters confirm your status as a student. You might need a Confirmation of Enrolment letter to show to your bank, your employer, pension provider or to send to your parents / guardians to enable their benefits and housing arrangements to be changed so as to reflect your status as a university student.

Transcripts

A transcript confirms your academic record to date. Electronic transcripts are free, and paper copies can be produced for a small administration fee. More information about transcripts, postage and charges can be found on our dedicated transcripts webpage.

How can I order my document?

You can request a Bank Letter and/or a Confirmation of Enrolment Letter by visiting Student Advice in either of our Student Services Centres. We recommend coming onto campus to obtain a physical copy as these are printed on headed paper and wet stamped to authenticate them. This is because some external organisations may not accept digital versions. There is no charge for having these printed for you.

Alternatively, if you are a distance learner or are unable to come onto campus, please email Student Advice with your details and reason why you are not able to come onto campus. We will then process your request digitally. Please include in the email, your full name, student ID, DOB and the type of letter you require.

When requesting any official letters, please ensure your personal details, e.g. term-time and home addresses, are correct before you request either letter. You can check and amend this information on our update your data page.

Transcripts can be requested from our transcripts page.
