Student auditor recruitment

Gain the skills and knowledge associated with environmental auditing by becoming a Green Impact student auditor. We have an exciting volunteer opportunity for Leeds Beckett students – the Beckettsphere scheme will give you the opportunity to meet the teams and see how Leeds Beckett staff are acting responsibly and being sustainable in their daily activities.

Many of our staff teams have shown effective and innovative ideas and practices across their offices to be more sustainable. Sustainability is a prevailing issue which is ever increasing in all aspects of day to day life, requiring most of us to make changes to the way we live our lives. Some of these changes are significant, some are minute but even those minute changes, collectively add up to make a big difference.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

A.

Beckettsphere is an internal scheme with an awards element, designed to encourage, support and celebrate departments in making sustainable changes to their workplace. Staff teams are working on projects throughout the university, which relate to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, from putting Bees onto City Campus to improving waste segregation or decolonizing the curriculum.

Depending on the project completed, teams can achieve a Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum award. All departments participating in Green Impact will need an audit to verify their level of achievement… and this is where you come in!

A.

We are looking for volunteer auditors to visit the departments and conduct audits. Each volunteer auditor will be fully trained on the criteria and what they need to do in order to audit through a half-day of training. In pairs auditors will then complete one or more audit. An audit should take around an hour to complete depending on the size of the department.

A.

No technical knowledge is needed as full training will be provided. All you need is an interest in sustainability issues, and the confidence to work with other students to visit a staff department.

Please get in touch if you’re eager to get involved with Green Impact in an auditing capacity, or if you have any further questions.

Email sustainability@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with your interest and a member of the team will be in touch.
