Leeds Beckett boasts one of the top university tennis programmes in the UK. With 11 teams and 2 development squads the tennis club are regularly the highest BUCS points-earning programme in the university. In 2017/18 the club won 8 BUCS Leagues and 2 Cup competitions.
Onsite, we have 12 courts you'll have access to, including 4 indoor acrylic and 4 clay courts. The centre provides opportunities for players of all levels, from those first picking up a racket to those participating at a national and international level. We believe that tennis can be for everyone, and we hope that as a part of our club we can provide you with an opportunity to have amazing experience and gain valuable skills on or off the court.

MEET OUR HEAD COACH Steve McLoughlin
There is a place for everyone at LBU, all players are offered a programme and a total of 175 tennis students have gained a formal tennis qualification since 2010 and now work full time in the tennis industry. Looking forward to seeing you at LBU, Go Beckett Bears!
Steve brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to Beckett’s Tennis programme. He is a former LTA Coach of the Year and has a wide background of coaching both domestically and internationally at junior and senior level. Steve has been the Head Coach and Coach Educator since 2007.
Steve has also worked with some of the country’s top rising stars, during his time at LBU the programme has expanded from 3 teams to 11 teams [4 women and 7 men] and 5 players have achieved their first WTA/ATP point whilst at LBU.

Everything you need to know
Playing for Beckett has been one of the highlights of my time at uni, it has helped me to improve my tennis and build my character. Every time I step out on the court it is competitive, fun, and there is a great vibe within the teams.
Train to be the best
There are consistent training hours throughout the week and regular recreational sessions, all of which take place at the tennis centre at Headingley Campus.
We have many courts available including:
- Four indoor courts (that are mainly used in the colder months)
- Four outdoor all-weather courts for warmer weather
- Four clay courts
