What do I need my campus card for?

Your Campus Card (Student or Staff ID Card) is your key to accessing many services and facilities on campus.

Your Campus card is really important. You’ll need it to:

  • Access both the Sheila Silver Library at City Campus and Headingley Library 24/7
  • Use the Sports Centre and gym facilities
  • Print and photocopy
  • Access some buildings
  • Prove your identity for examinations & collecting work

From Monday 21 September, the Student Advice Hub are operating an on-site collection service for campus cards. 

Collection locations and timings are as follows:

Monday - Friday: 10.00 - 16.00 (Wednesdays until 15.40)

Headingley Campus: James Graham Building G02

City Campus: The Gateway, Leslie Silver Building

How do I request a campus card?

Please complete a Campus Card Request Form. If you need to upload a photo, you can do this via the form. Upon completing the form, you will be asked if you would like to attend campus for collection or have the item posted to you. If you opt to attend campus, you will be asked to book a suitable collection slot (each 20 minutes) at your preferred campus. Your campus card will then be available on your chosen day for collection.

If you opt for the item to be posted, you will be asked to provide a preferred UK address*. Postage for the campus card is free.

*Please note, unfortunately, we are unable to post to international addresses.

Plus Icon I need to access the Library; do I need my campus card?
Yes, you will need your campus card to access the Libraries, and to carry out key tasks such as printing, taking out books and accessing certain buildings.

If you require a campus card, and do not have one, please complete the Campus Card Request form and book an available appointment to have your new card produced by our on-site Student Advice Hub Team (during term-time).
Plus Icon Do I need my campus card for printing?
Yes, you will need your campus card to carry out any printing while onsite. Your campus card includes credit that is used to pay for any printing you do. You can top up the credit on your card by logging into your MyBeckett account.
Plus Icon Does my campus card provide student discount?
To benefit from the thousands of student discounts available, you do not require your University campus card. Instead, you will need to apply for a NUS Totum card. You can apply directly through the NUS website and select that your card is posted to you.
Plus Icon I live in University accommodation; do I need my campus card to access my halls?
If you are living in Carnegie Village, you will receive a temporary card to access your halls of residence. If you are living in accommodation other than Carnegie Village, you do not need your campus card or a temporary card to access your building. This year, all home students will have their campus card posted to their home address from Monday 7 September. If your card has not arrived before you move into your halls, please plan with family/friends to have your card posted to you at your new address.

If you are not able to have your card posted to you from home, please complete a Campus Card Request form and book an available appointment to have your new card produced by our on-site Student Advice Hub Team (during term-time).

Plus Icon I'm an International student, how/when will I receive my card?

If you are an international student. and attending campus to collect your Biometric Residency Permit (BRP), your card will be available at the time you collect your BRP (if you uploaded a suitable photo before 6 September).

If you are not attending campus, you will receive your card in one of two ways:

  • If you uploaded a suitable photo to Online Welcome before the 6 September, you will receive an email in due course asking you to confirm a preferred UK address for delivery.
  • If you did not upload a suitable photo, you will be required to complete a Campus Card Request form. You will then be able to either attend campus to collect your card, or have the item delivered to a preferred UK address.

Apologies, we are unable to post to international addresses.

Plus Icon How long will it take to get my campus card?

The length of time it takes to have a new card produced depends if you request postage or are coming on campus to collect it. When our on-site Student Advice Hub Team produce your card for collection, it is available straightaway (if there is a suitable photo). However, once produced, your card can take approximately 45 minutes to activate. If you request for your card to be posted, you can expect delivery within 5 working days.

Plus Icon Will I receive a student lanyard and card holder this year?
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we are unable to offer student lanyards and card holders at this time. We will review this decision frequently and confirm when these materials will be available again.
Plus Icon Can I get a new photo?
If you no longer look like your photo, we ask that you have a new campus card produced. You can do this in one of two ways:

  1. Complete a Campus Card Request form and book an available time slot to attend campus and collect your new card (during term-time). You will then be required to attach a new photo for your card.
  2. If you are not able to attend campus, you can still complete the Campus Card Request form but ensure you select for your card to be posted to your preferred address. You will then be required to attach a new photo for your card.

  3. If you would simply like to change your photo on your campus card, you will be required to pay £10 for a replacement card. You can do this via the Online Store.
Plus Icon If I request a replacement card, will I keep my printer credit?

Yes, all funds and building access details will transfer to the new card, however, your new card will take approximately 45 minutes to activate.

Plus Icon I’ve found my old card, can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, we cannot refund cards that have already been requested for collection or postage.
Plus Icon My campus card has been stolen, what should I do?
If your card has been stolen, and you have reported the theft to the police, you can get a free replacement card. To do this, please complete the Campus Card Request form. You will be asked to input the crime reference number when you request your new card. You can then either book a slot to collect your card, or opt to have your replacement card posted to your home address (during term-time).
Plus Icon I've lost my campus card can I get a replacement?
If you’ve lost your card, there is a £10 cost to replace it. You can do this via the University Online Store. On purchasing your replacement card, you will be asked to confirm a preferred UK delivery address you would like your card posting to. Your card will then be received within 5 working days. Apologies, we are unable to accept cash payments for replacement cards.
Plus Icon I requested a new campus card to be posted to me but I haven't received it yet.

If you have already requested a new card, and haven’t received it by post, please contact our Student Advice Hub Team who will be able to confirm when your card was issued: campuscard@leedsbeckett.ac.uk or call 0113 812 3000.

Plus Icon I booked a collection slot but can no longer attend.

If you booked a collection slot but are no longer able to attend, we request that you make the Student Advice Hub Team aware as soon as possible by calling 0113 812 3000. Your slot can then be made available for other students to book.

If you require your campus card urgently (within the next 24 hours), please confirm this when speaking with us and we will make arrangements for your card to be left with Security.

If it is not urgent, please re-book a collection slot.

Plus Icon My campus card has stopped working, what do I do?

If your card no longer appears to work, you will be required to complete a Campus Card Request form and book a slot to collect your new card. When you attend your slot, you MUST bring your non-working card with you and the onsite Student Advice Hub Team will ensure it is disposed of confidentially. If you do not bring your faulty card with you, we will be unable to exchange it for your new one.

Staff Campus Cards FAQs

Plus Icon I'm a member of staff and need a replacement card.

Any members of staff requiring a replacement staff ID card, are to email campuscard@leedsbeckett.ac.uk, confirming the following details:

Full name(s)

Login username (if known)

Preferred campus for collection

From Monday 21 September, your card will be left with Security on your preferred campus and available for collection the following working day*.

If you require a new staff ID card before the 21 September, please contact campuscard@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with the above details. Your card will be available for collection from your preferred campus within 2 working days. Please note, we require advanced notice (more than 48 hours) if you require your card before the 21 September.

*There is a daily cut off time of 16.30 to allow for this collection time. E.g. if your request for a card is made at 15.00 on Monday, your campus card will be available from Tuesday. If you request a campus card at 16.45 on Monday, your card will be available for collection on Wednesday.

Please note, unfortunately, we are unable to post campus cards to staff home addresses.

Plus Icon I'm a new member of staff and require a campus card, what do I do?

If you are a new member of staff and intend to come onto campus, you will require a staff ID card (campus card) for services such as printing and accessing certain buildings. To request a card, please contact campuscard@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with the following information:

Full name(s)

Login username (if known)

Preferred campus for collection

A preferred photo for your card. This should be a passport style photo with no filters. Please also ensure that the photo is in a JPEG. format.

From Monday 21 September, your card will be left with Security on your preferred campus and available for collection the following working day*.

If you require a new staff ID card before the 21 September, please contact campuscard@leedsbeckett.ac.uk with the above details. Your card will be available for collection from your preferred campus within 2 working days. Please note, we require advanced notice (more than 48 hours) if you require your card before the 21 September.

*There is a daily cut off time of 16.30 to allow for this collection time. E.g. if your request for a card is made at 15.00 on Monday, your campus card will be available from Tuesday. If you request a campus card at 16.45 on Monday, your card will be available for collection on Wednesday.
