National Student Survey 2020

A free Class of 2020 Leeds Beckett t-shirt as a thank you...

All of our students who complete the survey fully will receive a thank you confirmation email to their Leeds Beckett student email account. Please print or show this email to the Student Advice Hub Team at either of the Student Advice Hubs and in exchange you will receive a free limited edition Leeds Beckett University ‘Class of 2020’ t-shirt.*

You can also choose to have Leeds Beckett make a £1 donation in your name to one of three selected charities. The charities we are supporting this year are:

Local Charity: It's Our Day (registered as Emma's Embrace: 1186606), which was set up by the parents of Leeds Beckett student, Emma Kirk, who sadly took her own life in October 2018. It's Our Day is a charity set up to ensure that the views of young people influence the services and support provided to improve young peoples health and well being.

National Charity: Shelter, which helps millions of people every year struggling with bad housing or homelessness through advice, support and legal services.

International Charity:The British Red Cross, which is a worldwide humanitarian charity helping people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are.

Please note that, unfortunately, Student Services are unable to post t-shirts to students. For students unable to collect a t-shirt, you can still select a charity to donate to if you email us the thank you confirmation email as an attachment and your selected charity.

*Please note, terms and conditions apply

What is the National Student Survey (NSS) and who is eligible?

Your feedback is really important to us and each year we ask our final year students to highlight what we're good at and where we need to improve through the independent NSS survey. The NSS is a national student survey, run by Ipsos MORI and aimed at final year undergraduates across the UK.

Key Facts about the National Student Survey

  • It takes 5-10 minutes to complete
  • There are 28 questions in total – all 28 need to be answered for your responses to count
  • Nearly 2.7 million students have taken part in the NSS so far
  • 357 institutions nationwide are eligible to take part

Why should I participate?

By completing your survey, you are telling us about your own experiences and also helping future students make the right choices about where and what to study as results are published nationally.

We need as many people as possible to get involved and fill in their survey – the results are very important to us and help us continuously improve the Leeds Beckett student experience, so your contribution really does matter.

How do I complete the National Student Survey and what questions does it ask?

The NSS opens on Monday 20th January 2020 and if you are a student in the final year of your undergraduate course, the survey will be accessible through the NSS link on your MyBeckett profile.

You will also receive an email on Thursday 23rd January 2020 to your University student email account from Ipsos MORI, inviting you to complete the survey online. Not all students are eligible to take part, and you will only receive an email if you are eligible.

The survey should take no more than 5-10 minutes to complete. You will be asked a range of questions about:

  • the academic support you received during your studies
  • how you felt about the organisation and management of your programme
  • our learning community and your student voice
  • the learning resources you may have used whilst studying with us
  • your overall satisfaction

Your answers and comments are entirely confidential and will not be passed on to your course teams other than as summary results. Your contact details won't be used for any other purpose.

If you don’t respond to the invitation email to take part, you may receive a follow up email, text, letter or phone call from Ipsos MORI.

These will go to the telephone number and address on your student records. Please make sure your contact details are up to date via MyBeckett.
