Professional Doctorate in Education

Entry requirements

Candidates for Professional Doctorates should normally have an appropriate honours degree of a United Kingdom higher education institution and have had a minimum of three years of professional experience. Professional experience will be understood as practical experience within the relevant field of enquiry.

In addition to completing an application form applicants will also need to submit a research proposal. All applicants who meet the minimum criteria will be invited to interview by the course leader.

IELTS

IELTS 7.0 with no skills below 6.5, or an equivalent qualification. The University provides excellent support for any applicant who may be required to undertake additional English language courses.

Mature Applicants:

Our university welcomes applications from mature applicants who demonstrate academic potential. If you have recent relevant work experience and/or professional qualifications, we may be able to consider you for entry through our ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ policy. Please ensure that you list both your qualifications and relevant work experience in your application.

All applicants should meet our standard entry requirements of GCSE grade C in English language and, where specified, Maths. Alternative qualifications such as functional skills are accepted in lieu of GCSEs for most courses.
