Sport and Exercise Psychology

Teaching & Learning

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic we are currently unable to advise on the mode of teaching for September 2021, however we will keep you updated and provide more information as soon as we can. We continue to follow government guidance and your teaching and learning will reflect the restrictions in place at the time of delivery. We currently anticipate that you may experience a blended approach – this is a mix of face-to-face, on campus and online teaching and learning. You can keep up to date with teaching and learning at Leeds Beckett via our Covid-19 website. Updated course specifications will be available in August 2021. In the meantime, our existing course specifications are available.

What you'll learn

You will be introduced to different styles and approaches to research design and analysis, and will a study a more critical approach to theory and evidence, providing the basis for your own master’s level research.
Study the effects of exercise on behaviour and mental health. You will consider both the positive and negative results of exercise, exploring the its beneficial impact on well-being and cognitive function, as well as the negative implications of exercise dependence.
Examine the broad range of cutting-edge issues and trends that appear within contemporary sport psychology literature, as you gain an in-depth understanding of human behaviour in the sporting environment.
Gain an in-depth understanding of the nature of psychosocial development within sport and exercise. You will study the development of expertise across the lifespan and consider psychological development and dynamics in relation to transitions in sport and exercise.
This module will facilitate continuing professional development and support your progression towards professional registration or further study.
Engage in a range of applied activities to prepare you for your future career as a sport or exercise psychologist.
