Strength and Conditioning

Teaching & Learning

What you'll learn

Develop an understanding of the physiological and mechanical factors governing the generation of strength and power through a study of the structure and function of the neuromuscular system.
Gain the skills to evaluate the physiological demands of sporting events, measure physiological capacities and prescribe training for physiological development in athletes.
You'll be introduced to different styles and approaches to designing research and analysis. And you'll learn to take a more critical approach to theory and evidence, providing the basis for your own master's level research.
Develop your ability to use evidence, apply and critically reflect on your own coaching practice whilst considering the requirements of professional bodies and relevant organisations. You'll be supported to reflect on your own coaching practice and/or provide opportunities to undertake work-based learning within a placement. You'll gain an awareness of the potential interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary nature of the strength and conditioning practitioner's role.
Learn how to plan, organise, deliver and evaluate training as you explore the requirements of a sport or event and its participants.
