What you'll learn

Explore specific aspects of the structure and function of the neuromuscular system and their relationship with intrinsic and extrinsic factors. The module provides you with an understanding of the mechanical basis of joint and muscle function, and develops your understanding of the relationship between external and internal loading factors which can lead to injury.
You will incorporate a theoretical and practical approach which develops a comprehensive understanding of injury management. You will explore key underpinning knowledge, skills and evidence for rehabilitation strategies for athletic populations, and critically review treatment strategies for conservative and surgical options inclusive of specific controlled conditions.
Develop your clinical reasoning skills in the assessment of sports injuries, complex clinical presentations and pathophysiology. You will build on your critical thinking, analysis and reflection skills with this module.
Gain a detailed and critical understanding of the application of cardiopulmonary exercise testing and prescription in populations with cardiovascular and pulmonary conditions. You will evaluate the contribution of exercise testing to the diagnosis and prognosis for these conditions.
