Gain an understanding of the project organisational and strategic issues critical to the successful delivery of construction projects. During the module, strong emphasis will be placed on the integration of theory and practice. Upon completion, you'll demonstrate a critical awareness of the context of project environments and their impact on the performance of projects. You'll also be able to develop organisation structures and strategies suitable for individual projects.
Develop a critical understanding of the concepts, methodologies, and techniques involved in managing teams at both project and corporate levels to drive successful innovation. You'll explore current challenges and emerging insights in areas such as conflict resolution, cultural diversity, communication, ethics, change, and innovation management. By the end of the module, you'll be able to identify how shifts in the construction industry and the wider economy are influencing the roles of project managers and their teams.
This year-long module will prepare you for successful execution of independent research projects. It covers key skills relating to academic writing, literature review, research methods, approaches, and structures for effective communication of research outputs, following standard ethical guidelines. You'll develop the skills to evaluate existing academic literature and identify appropriate research needs and gaps. You'll subsequently plan, conduct, and present your own research using styles that are appropriate for formal academic presentations.

You’ll explore how effective project leadership influences team performance and contributes to meeting project goals. In addition, you’ll examine how well-led teams can drive the achievement of broader organisational strategic objectives.

This practical module equips you with the knowledge and skills to critically evaluate, select, and apply the most appropriate methodology based on specific project requirements. You'll examine traditional, agile, and hybrid methods, and learn how to integrate principles of risk management, value creation, and stakeholder engagement to support successful project delivery. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and collaboration, reflecting the real-world importance of working effectively in project teams.
This module explores project planning and control, with a focus on the roles of risk and value management in delivering successful outcomes. You'll develop the ability to plan projects using appropriate software, monitor progress, and implement robust risk management strategies. Additionally, you'll learn how to manage project plans using relevant control mechanisms and integrate these into the decision-making process within a dynamic project environment.
