What you'll learn

Develop your understanding of the issues affecting sports event management now and in the future. You will gain a valuable overview of contemporary thinking in order to understand sports events, as a case study, alongside sport's role in the wider world in which we live.
Explore the functions of operations, project delivery, risk and quality management and their contribution to the core operation of events and events businesses.
Critically examine conceptual frameworks, models and techniques of strategic and financial management and apply these to event case studies. You will reflect upon contemporary and cultural issues surrounding the development and use of strategy and finance and its position within contemporary event organisations.
Develop an in-depth understanding of the contexts, challenges and strategies needed to address the demands of the integrated sports event marketing mix and sponsorship.
Gain a critical understanding of the way in which leadership, management and human resources interact within event organisations. You will learn how to manage and lead event workforces, including the HR strategies available to supervising event volunteers.
Gain the knowledge, skills and techniques required to conceive, plan, execute research and evaluate events, that will enable you to successfully complete a major research project at masters level.
Engage in professional activities relevant to sport, tourism, hospitality or events management, individually or as part of a group, to develop your professional skills and capabilities and enhance your future career prospects.
Using the skills and knowledge developed during the 'Research Methods & Event Evaluation' module, you will produce a coherent and holistic piece of work on a major research project within your field of study.
