Fostering a diverse academic community
The Dean's Scholarship is aimed at undergraduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. Successful candidates will receive a scholarship worth £6,000 per year.
To qualify for the Dean’s Scholarship, candidates must:
- Apply for a full-time BA or BSc undergraduate course and receive an unconditional offer by the date noted in the eligibility criteria below.
- Meet country-specific academic entry requirements (see eligibility criteria below).
- Complete the online application form, which includes a video submission requirement.
- Shortlisted candidates will be invited to take part in an interview panel.
- Successful candidates with be asked to accept their scholarship and make their deposit payment within two weeks of being notified of the outcome of their interview.
Please note: students who receive the Dean's scholarship will not be eligible to receive the International Student Scholarship worth between £1,000 - £5,000. The higher-value scholarship takes precedence over the lower-value scholarship.
Terms & Conditions
To be eligible for the scholarship you must:
- Be assessed as having an ‘Overseas or EU’ residency status
- Be assessed to pay the overseas fee
- Be studying the relevant course full time
- Be actively enrolled on an eligible course
- Be a self-funded student, who is paying the full course fee for that year (those students who have their tuition fees paid by a third-party sponsor, employer or government agency will not be eligible)
- Studying that level of the course for the first time (i.e. not repeating any level during that year)
In addition, students from Vietnam must meet the following requirements:
- Entry Requirements: Upper Secondary School Diploma 6.5 - 7.0 + Foundation
- IELTS Score (or equivalent): 6.5 with no skill below 6.0
- Receive an Unconditional offer by 28 November 2025 for January 2026 start
- Receive an Unconditional offer by 30 June 2026 for September 2026 start
You must apply for a Leeds Beckett course through the Applicant Portal and receive a Leeds Beckett Applicant ID before applying online for the Dean's Scholarship.
Scholarship applications must be submitted through the online form. As part of the application, you will be asked to submit a short video explaining why you should receive the scholarship.
The video should be 2 minutes or less, and include:
- Why do you want to study in the UK?
- Why do you want to study this course at Leeds Beckett?
- What are your long-term ambitions and how will this course help you achieve them?
Applications will be assessed by the Leeds Beckett International Recruitment team. Shortlisted applicants will then be invited to a panel interview.
The application deadline for January 2026 start is 28 November 2025.
The application deadline for September 2026 start is 30 June 2026.
You will not be eligible for the scholarship if any of the following apply to you;
- Courses or schemes where particular rates or payment arrangements exist (such as those relating to Franchise / Overseas / Partner Based delivery or any other special arrangement)
- Part time students
- Any repeat year
- Any year where the student is out on placement
- Students on Distance Learning courses
- Those studying PGDip or PGCert programmes
- Those studying LLM Legal Practice course
- Those studying BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy course
- Those studying Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA), Doctor of Education (EdD), or Research By Published Works
- Those studying a pre-sessional English language course or the International Foundation Year delivered by our partner Study Group
If you are in receipt of the Dean's Undergraduate Scholarship, you will not be eligible to receive an additional international scholarship from the university. Where you qualify for more than one international scholarship, the scholarship with the highest value will be awarded. The university reserves the right to vary or withdraw any scholarship at its sole discretion.
