Montessori Education has transformed the lives of children and communities right around the globe for well over a century.
Through a partnership between the Carnegie School of Education and the Montessori Group, tIMI was established on August 31st, 2020 on what would have been Dr Montessori’s 150th birthday. The Institute supports the development of accredited Montessori programmes housed in the subject area of Interdisciplinary Studies and actively researches the impact of the Montessori Method.
We work with international partners to undertake research to advance our knowledge and understanding of Montessori education and the improve professional practice in order to enhance the educational experience of children. Our research themes are very much rooted in the work of Dr Montessori. Through our research we seek to inform education policy change nationally and internationally in order to advance outcomes for children.

We are excited to launch the first ever Montessori Education 0-12 Years (Accelerated Degree). Our two-year, accelerated programme will enable you to obtain an undergraduate degree in two years and will prepare you for a fulfilling career of working with children in Montessori education. The partnership between Carnegie School of Education and the Montessori Group has created powerful opportunities to develop qualifications, initiate a Montessori research agenda and build a community of practice and research in the field.
This pedagogy has deep roots in the UK and globally and there is much scope to build an evidence base and learning about the impact of Montessori education for the benefit of children and families.
