iCoachKids makes impressions Down Under and partners up with Sport England
After impressing delegates at the FIBA convention in Europe last June, IBF requested iCoachKids make the trip Down Under to offer support to coaches. Dr Sergio Lara-Bercial, project director, visited Echuca, Victoria to conduct on-court demonstrations of how coaches can support children develop their thinking and problem-solving skills whilst enjoying the game of Basketball.
Theren Bullock, Social Corporate Responsibility Associate for IBF said: “It was a great opportunity to have Sergio present iCoachKids at our Oceania Mini Basketball convention”
“The iCoachKids approach of creating a fun environment for children is in direct correlation with our philosophy that we want to instil in our member National Federations.”
iCoachKids has recently taken a significant step forward as a global movement since signing a cooperation agreement with Sport England, the national agency for sport.
The education and development of coaches has long been a top priority for Sport England, and the iCoachKids educational programme therefore helps meet the growing demand for specialist learning opportunities aimed at a specific group.
Stuart Armstrong, Head of Coaching for Sport England said: “Sport England are delighted to collaborate with iCoachKids.”
“The programme’s philosophy is fully aligned with our vision for coaching children and youth sport and the resources they have developed will prove invaluable in supporting the continuous development of grassroots coaches all across England.”
Sergio Lara-Bercial welcomed the signing of the agreement and said: “We are delighted that iCoachKids can support Sport England achieve their objective of increasing the quality sport experience for all children and young people leading to lifelong involvement.”
